The
reunion committee for the Class of 1964 of
Catonsville High School met Oct. 13, 2004, to
review the 40th reunion Sept.
17 and make decisions for the future. Chairman
Rick Webb reported: *
Everyone enjoyed all activities; crab feast
cruise in the mist of tornado warning,
visiting the 4th and current high school
building, and an outstanding picnic at Ed
Fishel's gentlemen's farm. *
Financially, it was also a success!
After all bills, invoices, etc. have been
accounted for, we will continue to carry over
about $1,500 as seed money for the next
reunion after making a $250 scholarship
donation to the high school. The
committee decided there will be a 45th. Everyone
is invited to participate on the reunion
planning committee (we had as much fun
meeting as we did at the reunion itself).
The committee will meet as least
annually for the next couple of years in
October to just keep in touch. In
October, 2008 we will meet in earnest to start
planning the 45th, but will start considering
ideas at our October, 2007 meeting in case
more lead time is required e.g. for a cruise
or who knows what? The
meetings will continue to be called by the
chairman in surprise locations somewhere in
the Catonsville area. This
web site, www.catonsville1964.com
, will be maintained and updated as
appropriate. This
message was sent to those classmates that have
provided an email address. Everyone is
asked to encourage classmates to provide their
email and be sure to keep theirs up to date.
Out of a class of 519, we received 112
responses (22%) and our data base has
something less than 300 snail mail addresses.
One of our goals for the 45th is to locate
100% of our classmates. Everyone is
needed to reach this goal. The 40th reunion featured four events: a Friday afternoon golf outing at the Tibers of Troy golf course organized by Dan Eckman, an evening dinner cruise on the Bay Lady for 130 people despite tornado warnings, a Saturday morning tour of the high school for 70 people by members of the CHS Honor Society, and a Saturday afternoon picnic featuring Andy Nelson’s Bar-b-q.. “DJ Denny” Colson provided 60’s music for the affair which included a dance contest. More than 80 classmates, guests, and some children participated. A 40th reunion book and a video (DVD or VHS) were produced and are still available for $10 each. Please click for order form. Photos from the DVD can be seen in this website Photo Gallery. If you have digital pictures of the reunion, please e-mail them to Ed Fishel at edfishel@comcast.net or mail them to 746A Monkton Road , Monkton , MD 21111. |
